2023 Beach Clean-Up Activity - Starts with reducing the garbage

Addressing the threat to marine ecosystems from human activity; emphasizing source reduction and proper conservation awareness to protect oceans and overall biodiversity.

In September 2023, RH participated in a beach cleanup event organized by another company, involving about a hundred people. This first-time beach cleanup was a memorable experience for 50 RH colleagues, who received guidance beforehand to understand the event's purpose and requirements.

However, this activity also increased our awareness of marine pollution. In just two hours, we found a large amount of plastic waste on the beach, including straws, bottle caps, and numerous difficult-to-collect plastic pellets. This was astonishing and reinforced the importance of environmental protection.

The results were significant; we collected over ten bags of trash, giving the beach a temporary reprieve. This made us realize the enormous threat human behavior poses to our marine ecosystem. We must broaden our environmental perspective and build closer collaborations with other enterprises to highlight that most trash originates from our daily lives. We should start at the source by "reducing" waste, building correct awareness, and contributing to the ocean and all living creatures.
